lately, i've come to find out that a more than a few people in the area had killed themselves.
most of the people i know of were in their early twenties or forties.
for those loved ones surviving them, it was mostly a shock!
Hi everybody! Haven't posted in quite a while. Been too busy, you know, with life in general.
I knew of a JW who committed suicide recently. It was heartbreaking for all that knew him, to not be able to catch the signs of despair that made him take his life. Nobody saw it coming, and it affected us all so deeply in all congregations around the area. An assumption is that perhaps the meds he was taking for depression had something to do with it. It's so, so, so very sad.

yes we hosted the ultimate "fancy dress" party.
some did come as cowboys with guns {cringe} pirates with swords {cringe} and a male servant/pioneer came as a female balerina {oh my god nearly got deleted!
} but what's the big deal!
This is an isolated incident, in a boring cong, with old/boring body of elders. It happens.
Not my my cong. We're always having parties, I mean there's at least once per month, some months 2 and 3 in the same month: Graduations, kid's parties, anniversaries, engagement, baby showers, parties to honor the elderly among us, wedding parties, whatever. We're one happy bunch at the Spanish congregations of Southwest Florida!
Can't fix boring! Has nothing to do with the religion itself!

how long will the wt hand out free food, clothes, shoes and pay for their medical care?
or will they just tell them to go to caesar for medical care?
Being an NGO has allowed them to set up camp and help out their own first, and others by default. It's one of the reasons why being a NGO is necessary for them in this day and age. Sort of like many JWs registering for service because it's a law, although we darn well know we won't be going to war for any country.
The news I've gotten is that just about every JW (dead or alive) has been accounted for, and that aid is arriving and being distributed even as we speak. They're really good at that!

millions affected.. how many prayed in vain to stop the quaking, keep a loved one from dying, or for saftey?
all disregarded, all ignored.. he either doesn't care, is dead, or never was.

Sounds like you're hurting spiritually. I hope you'll be satisfied with the answer provided in their website. Certainly a good answer won't be found in this forum.

i'm sure they will get asked on the doors "how could god let this happen?".
i belive the standard answer is a fudged recitation of adam and eve, basicly meaning its ok that these people died becuase way back when, someone disobeyed god, and that makes it ok.... any other stupid jw explanations for this?.

The WTBS will get it's work done where there is the least expense and perhaps even less 'red tape' to doing things. I'm sure socialized medicine also played some part in it. All things are taken into account, and the most convenient way is the way the WTBS will go. They sure do their homework before taking such a big decision as this one is.

one thing that truly bothers me is that the religion forces you to accept an understanding they have expressed.
they might very well change their view and you simply have to accept the newest view or you are the bad guy!
the generation understanding has changed so much since its inception, how could any witness possibly be 100% sure that what they're told to believe in is "the truth"??.
I really dislike having to report monthly service activity; it forces me to make up stuff just to look in good standing. I really, really, really wish this would go away, but I doubt it ever will!

I find kind of confusing the doctrine of letting "things in God's hands for him to resolve", as opposed to taking anyone who broke some law to the courts.
I know that following this biblical mandate is the reason why some have neglected to report all sorts of abuse perpetrated by another JW. I don't agree with that stance.
Yeah, I find that kind of confusing. However, some time ago, there was a letter read in the congregation that stated that sexual predators were to be reported to the local authorities so that they face the punishment. I sincerely hope it was read worldwide and that they flock listened.
